Tarte Aux Épinards (Spinach Pie)

Tarte Aux Épinards (Spinach Pie)

This is my second recipe. Combined with the pâte brisée recipe I posted yesterday it is a quick and easy recipe. Perfect for a light dinner, side dish, or for brunch. I love so many things about this recipe. I love how versatile it is. You can easy adapt this recipe to include whatever ingredients you like or mix things up for a change. Essentially, it could be a different variety every time you make it.

Pâte Brisée (Pie Crust)

Pâte Brisée (Pie Crust)

This entry, combined with the Spinach Tart, will be my first recipe posts! What I love about this pie crust is that it is super easy and quick to make and A uses it as the crust for all her sweet and savory tarts. Scroll past the directions for step by step pictures and instructions.

Wine Wednesday

Wine Wednesday

This week is already flying by! I can’t believe it is almost half over! I can’t even remember what my Monday and Tuesday were like. Anyway, I’ll get right into the wine review. This week I wanted to go with a Rose, which tends to be very popular here in Provence. Now, I’m typically more of a fan of red wines, but this whole experience is about breaking out of my shell and trying new things, right? I had only…

Sundaes on Sunday

Sundaes on Sunday

What a spectacular weekend! The Kansas City Royals are leading the ALCS 2-0, I made some new friends, went salsa dancing, and had a great day with the family. While the Royals were rocking Game 2 of the ALCS Saturday night, I went salsa dancing in Aix-en-Provence with my salsa co-instructor, M, and two students from his class in Aviagnon. We had such a great time! We went to a small Cuban restaurant that turns into a “club/lounge” called L’espresso…

A Week of Lunch With L and J

A Week of Lunch With L and J

I had to write a special post just to talk about the awesome lunches I had with L and J this past week. Since L couldn’t walk, we couldn’t send him to school. J took the week off of work to take care of him. As a result, every day when I came home from class J and L would be waiting with lunch ready (it was definitely something I could get use to)! And every day, it was awesome….

The Three Little Pigs

The Three Little Pigs

L has tons of books in French. Everyday right before bath time, we pick 1 or 2 stories to read together. It helps him unwind a bit before taking his bath. I translate the stories into English when I read to him, and before bedtime his mom reads him 2 stories (usually the same ones) but in French. I introduced L to the Three Little Pigs maybe a week ago. He was a little hesitant to read it, but it…

Wine Wednesday

Wine Wednesday

Coucou! Today I start a new weekly series, entitled, Wine Wednesday. If you couldn’t guess, I’ll be “reviewing” the wine(s) I consumed during the week. I absolutely love wine and I’m living in a country that is not only famous for wine but has super affordable choices. It would be a dis-service to my readers not to provide a series chronicling my wine tasting! Friday I purchased my first bottle of French wine! I got it at the mini market…

Hiking Carry Le Rouet

Hiking Carry Le Rouet

This past Sunday was my second hiking excursion with my club. We had a really lovely time. I liked the place that we went to, but I wish our guide picked a better trail. Hiking the Blue Coast I expected to see the ocean. I visited a few weeks ago with my host family (that is where we had our picnic). It was so stunning I expected to walk 15 km with a constant beautiful ocean view. Instead, we were…

Status Update – Month 1

Status Update – Month 1

Tomorrow will mark my one month anniversary of my life abroad. It is still hasn’t fully sunk in. In fact, I remind myself almost daily that I really do live in this incredibly beautiful region of France and that this is in fact my life. However, I am settling into my new life and I love every minute of it! Even though I have only been here one month, I have already noticed progress in my French, positive changes in…

Mo Money Mo Problems

Mo Money Mo Problems

Today I officially went on my first date here in France, and let me say it was honestly one of the worst if the worst first date I have ever been on. No, seriously, I have never felt so uncomfortable in all my life. I met this guy on Tinder. Now you’re probably thinking that therein lies my problem, but I went on a Tinder date once (and it was actually not bad) and I have friends with Tinder success…
